Abstract | ||||
Timing of first irrigation and ap[)lic.atiQr) of zinc and manganese aoplieo by coating seeds of raoa bean (Giza Blanca cv.) prior 10 sowinq were investigated in six field experiments dUfing successive seasons 199912000 and 2000/2001 at Nuboria Experimental Station. Agricultural Research Center (ARC). The firs I irrigaLJon (EI- Mo))aya) was applied at.three different Inlervals (two , (our and six weeks from sowing iriigatiun). Doses of In and Mn application were combination 010.00,0.15 and 0.30 g/kg seeds of both Zn-EDTA and Mn·EDTA. Faba baan plants were monitored for tneir flo'JJering, pod setting and seed quality characteristics. whereas. the obtalned resuns revealed thai number of days to Oowering of 50 % 01 total plants, number of days 10 Oowering f.illfulmenl. f1oweri~ period, pod she6dir.g %, seed yiekilplant (9), tOO-seed weight (g). protein %. carbohydrate 0/0, total viclne and trypsin inhibi10r activity ware significanlly affected by timing of the ~rst Irrigation, micro-nutrients appHcaUon ar.d [heir interaction as \o,Ieli as faba bean plants graduelly suffered from water deficit by delaYing first irrigation from two to four and six weeks intervals, all characters were remarkably affected, Delaying first irrigation to (our and six weeks, which cause leba bean plants 10 a situation o( water shortage at early vegetative growth. Induced plants to carry flowers earlle! ( 50% of plants carried flowers ) .Thls circumstances shortened noweri~ period and Increased pod shedding percentage . There was un-noticeable trend 01 effects produced (rom using micro-nutrient application and its interaction with Irrigation treatments on studied nowerif19 characters . Superiority of applying t/'le 1irs1 Irrigation aftar 2 weeks 'was clear as seed y1~d 1 plant and we~hl 01 100 - seec we re remarkably Increased. Total protien percentage showed gradual reduction as w stlt( stress gradually Increased by delaying firs' irrigaUon from two weeks 10 lour and six weeks. Dose at 0.15g In •. 0.00 Mnlkg seeds gave the greatesi vatues of proleln percentage. Applying the Rrst jrrigBllon aftar slx weeks sHmulates t/'le carbohydrates content to be Increased in seeds white vlclna content showed the lowest values. Appfying mlcro-nvtJents caused vicJne content to be reduced at all levels 01 applying If compared to conuol treatment. Water stress showed a possitlve eHect on trypsin Inhibitor content. whareas , faba bean plants exposed to water stress produced ssecs cootalnsd low IJypsln inhibitor. | ||||
