Abstract | ||||
This study aims to assess the concentrations of trace metals in the bottom sediemts from Manzala Lagoon. This lagoon receives high input of pollutants from domestic, industrial and agricultural sources. The investigated metals include Cu, Mn, Zn, Pb, Ni and Cd. Relying on the contamination indices, Manzala Lagoon is classified into three parts: the the northern part with the lowest degree of contamination, the middle part with a considerable degree and the southern one which records the highest levels. It is noted that Cd acts as the main reason to the ecological risk factor in this study. This study aims to assess the concentrations of trace metals in the bottom sediemts from Manzala Lagoon.
