Abstract | ||||
Astronomy is one of the earliest sciences known to humans, it is also a rapidly improving and developing science; astronomical observatories record new phenomena on daily basis. Therefore; astronomy is considered one of the key resources that connect design with science, which is evident in the various applications of art. Astronomy and art can combine reality with imagination and curiosity, but on the other hand; contemporary art is distinguished with its direct reliability in the innovation process. In this sense; jewelry designers can discover outstanding approaches to unique design ideas by using astronomy for inspiration, as it can reflect the designer’s desire to express the fundamental essence of cosmic systems and; at the same time; surpass their reality. Thus; this research aims to create contemporary jewelry designs inspired by astronomy, by utilizing its basic laws. The problem of this research can be summed up in the following question: to what extent can the aesthetics of astronomy be applied in creating contemporary jewelry designs? The research follows the analytical descriptive and the experimental methodologies; its significance comes from studying astronomy and utilizing it in jewelry design. Furthermore; the research attempts to enrich the field of contemporary jewelry with technical studies of other sciences; astronomy in this case; to be used by jewelry designers as an inspiration approach. One of the key results of the research is that astronomy can enhance the thinking process, thus; providing new prospects for innovative design. | ||||
