Abstract | ||||
Five types of animal fats were used in this investigation, i.e. bovine butter, buffaloes butter, bovine fat, buffaloes fat and sheep fat. Corn oil was also used as control. Data showed that the rats preferred the sheep fat and buffaloes butter than other fats, and consequently stored the metabolized fats in its body. Deposition of the tested lipids on some organs, i.e. liver and brain were found on a significant level. Determination of liver functions showed that fats deposit at the liver and formed fatty liver which affected the activity of alanine transaminase (AL T) and aspartate transaminase (AST). Type of fat seems to play an important role in the serum lipid fractions according to their saturation degree and also the main or predominant fatty acid. Further studies will be of great important. | ||||
