Abstract | ||||
The present study was carried out at the Central Laboratory for Aquaculture Research to evaluate the use of commercial Moringa olifera plant as bacteriocidal and immunity promoter for Nile tilapia, Oreochromis niloticus. A total number of 180 monosex Nile tilapia with average initial weight (9.8 - 9.95 g) were distributed into 12 glass aquaria 140 L each to represent four treatments in triplicates ie: control, 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0 % Moringa extract as supplement diet. For 3 months 20 Fish of each treatment were challenged by pathogenic Aermonas hydrophila, for 15 days to record the daily mortality rate. Fish survival in all treatments of 2g Moringa leaves extract / kg diet was slightly enhanced without significant difference (P > 0.05) which ranged from (94.6 - 96.2 %). Hb, RBCs and PCV were higher significantly (P < 0.05) for fish fed diet containing 2g Moringa leaves extract / kg diet ,The mortality percent was higher in control group (89 %) than in moringa extracts. The mortality percent in Nile tilapia feed 2g Moringa leaves extract / kg diet. Moringa extracts had highly antibacterial effect against pathogenic Aermonas hydrophila. Determination antimicrobial activity of moringa extracts aganist Aermonas hydrophila and effect of Antibiotics and its combination with them. Using Moringa extracts as natural feed additives, especially at 2g Moringa leaves extract / kg diet, can improve immune response. Moringa extracts had highly antibacterial effect against pathogenic Aermonas hydrophila. | ||||
