Abstract | ||||
The research aims to study the possibility of developing some non-traditional Egyptian agricultural exports,(tangerines and sweet potatoes) to Arab countries markets. Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Iraq and Jordan are the most important receiving markets for Egyptian exports of tangerines, representing about 82%, 80% of the average total quantity and value of Egypt’s exports of tangerines. Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, UAE and Kuwait are the most important markets receiving sweet potatoes, representing about 91%, 88% of quantity and value of Egypt's exports of potatoes to Arab countries during the period (2016-2020), respectively. The market share of Egyptian exports of tangerine depends on the ratio of the price of Egypt to the price of Pakistan In the markets of Oman and the UAE, and the ratio of the price of Turkey in the markets of Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Qatar and Syria. Egypt is the main source of sweet potatoes in the markets of Saudi Arabia, UAE, Lebanon, Kuwait, Jordan, Bahrain and Oman, with a market share of about 91%, 62%, 99%, 95%, 100%, 89% and 66% of the average quantity of imports, respectively. The market share of Egyptian exports of sweet potatoes depends on the ratio of the price of Egypt to the price of Lebanon in the Saudi market and the ratio of market share in Omani market. The study recommends paying attention to the shape and packaging, studying the imported market before production, and cultivating varieties that match the taste of the Arab consumer. | ||||
