Abstract | ||||
The most prevalent kind of heart disease is coronary heart disease. Smoking is the major risk factor for CAD in our country.Timely reperfusion is crucial to decrease the risk of heart failure in patients presenting with anterior STEMI. Several factors contribute to the risk of complications in patients with anterior STEMI, some of them are controllable. AIM OF THE WORK: This research aims to assess left ventricular global longitudinal strain as a predictor of ventricular remodeling and clinical outcomes in revascularized anterior STEMI patients. SUBJECTS AND METHODS: Prospective study of 50 patients who had anterior STEMI andwere managed by Primary percutaneous coronary intervention in the period between December 2020 to February 2022 in Alexandria university hospital. Trans-Thoracic Echocardiography was used to assess LVGLS at baseline and 6 months for follow-up. RESULTS: Patients were predominantly males (96 %), and (92 %) were smokers. BeforePPCI, LV ejection fraction was 47.21± 5.08% and GLS was -11.09± 3.31%. LV ejection fraction after 6 months of follow-up increased to 47.80± 9.15 % and the GLS improved to -12.74 ± 3.75 % in comparison to baseline.Predictors of MACCE were DM, Dyslipidemia, Increased duration of chest pain in hrs, decreased LVEF, decreased LVGLS, increased EDVI, and increased ESVI and TIMI flow I & II.The total incidence of MACCE was 26% at 6 months. | ||||
