Abstract | ||||
The Egyptian potato is one of the most important components of the commodity structure of Egyptian agricultural exports as it contributes about 10.2% to the total agricultural exports as an average for the period 2015-2020. In light of the challenges, local and global developments, many phenomena and variables come to affect the future of Egyptian potatoes, the most important of which are the economic and environmental variables, where the effects related to these are direct, indirect and overlapping effects.These effects indicate the importance of working to identify the most important variables, and measure and predict their impacts. The study aimed to identify the future prospects of the Egyptian potato in light of these developments, to determine the appropriate policies and mechanisms for the development of its exports, and to determine the extent to which the Egyptian potato exports responded to the most important economic variables. By studying the current situation of the foreign trade of Egyptian potatoes, it was found that there was a statistically significant increase in the quantity and value of Egyptian exports and imports of potatoes, and a geographical concentration in exports and imports. Periodic pest control and providing material and human resources and proper resources for quality control of potato exports are required to ensure sustainable progress. | ||||
