Abstract | ||||
This book retraces the epic and disappointments of a young Congolese who came to conquer Paris. Just a few months after his arrival, he was threatened with deportation. Through this work, at the intersection between Franco-African and post-colonial literature, we focus our attention on the many anecdotes symptomatic of the magnitude of the emphasis and its repercussions on the daily lives of the two main characters as well as that of their entourage. More specifically, our article examines the question of how emphasis contributes to the idea of the decline of the values and references of the African people today. The approach adopted borrows from that of Moudileno (2006). In this sense, we note the manifestations of the emphatic exaltation that destabilizes the lives of certain characters, before analyzing its repercussions on their behaviour. Finally, in a final step, the behavioural evolution of the hero, Massala-Massala, facing the reality of his adventure is submitted to examination. The use of emphasis testifies to the loss and decline of African ancestral values and references | ||||
