| The eighteenth-century witnessed the development of an ideology of motherhood that confirmed the notion that women are born to be mothers and naturally inclined toward childcare and domesticity. Throughout the century, the mother’s role was constructed into a series of rules of maternal behavior either the mother fails because she does not show the appropriate maternal passion, or she is absent and forced to leave her child to surrogate mothers who are also imperfect. This research explores the theme of motherhood in two novels, The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd and White Oleander by Janet Fitch. It discusses the relationship between motherhood and feminism. Key words: motherhood, mother-daughter relationship, feminism, Fitch, Kidd. شهد القرن الثامن عشر تطور مذهب الأمومة الذي أكد فكرة أن النساء يولدن ليصبحن أمهات ويميلن بشكل طبيعي نحو رعاية الأطفال والحياة المنزلية. على مدار القرن ، تم بناء دور الأم في سلسلة من قواعد سلوك الأمومة ، وتم تعزيزالمسؤوليات لاعتبارها سمات تميز الأم. ثم ظهرت سلسلة من القصص التي تكون فيها شخصيات الأم غير كاملة عند قياسها مقابل المعايير الصارمة لتميز الأمومة. إما أن تفشل الأم لأنها لا تظهر عاطفة الأمومة الكافٍ الذي من شأنه أن يشجعها على أداء دور الأم المثالية ، أو أنها غائبة و أجبرت على ترك أمومة طفلها للآخرين. يستكشف هذا البحث موضوع الأمومة في روايتين ، الحياة السرية للنحل بقلم سو مونك كيد والدفلى الأبيض بقلم جانيت فيتش و يناقش العلاقة بين الأمومة والنسوية. الكلمات المفتاحية: الأمومة، العلاقة بين الأم وابنتها، النسوية، فيتش، كيد. | ||||
