Abstract | ||||
Objective: Seroma is one of the postoperative complications after modified radical mastectomy which can be reduced by using Fibrin Glue. This study prospectively evaluated the role of Fibrin Glue in reducing seroma formation after modified radical mastectomy in patients with breast cancer. Patients and methods: The study was carried out between February 2021 and February 2022, 30 patients with breast cancer were enrolled in this study, patients were randomly divided into two groups: group (A) (Fibrin Glue group) that included 15 patients and group (B) (the control group) that included 15 patients. Patients’ characteristics, postoperative complication, amount of drained fluid in the first day and cumulative amount of serous fluid, time needed to remove the drain in days and hospital stay days were analyzed. Results: The cumulative amount of drained fluids and the overall incidence of seroma were less in group (A) (Fibrin Glue group) than in group (B) (the control group). Conclusion: The use of fibrin glue showed a significant reduction of both seroma volume and incidence. Therefore, it had also a significant decrease in hospital stay time and time passes till the drains were removed. | ||||
