Abstract | ||||
Diabetes is one of many diseases in which prevention and treatment are essentially based on proper nutrition. The cross-sectional study's objective was to determine how dietary patterns affected anthropometric measurements, hemoglobin A1C test (HbA1c), Fasting Blood Sugar level (FBS), and Lipid profile among Egyptian patients with type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM). One hundred and two patients (48 female and 54 male) who participated in this study were chosen from the National Diabetes Institute's outpatient clinic. The participant's subjective nutritional assessment using anthropometric and dietary parameters and laboratory data on their lipid profile, HbA1c, and FBS levels. According to the results, there was a positive correlation between inappropriate nutritional habits, anthropometric measurements and blood lipids, and glucose levels, for all participants with higher obesity levels, uncontrollable blood glucose levels, lower-than-normal levels of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) were observed in the female group, so nutritional education and physical activity should be a constant, integral and indispensable part of the therapeutic procedure in type 2 diabetes to improve nutritional habits which will simultaneously reflect in an improvement of the anthropometric measurements (BMI), blood lipids and glucose level. | ||||
