Abstract | ||||
Maternal death is defined by the World Health Organization (WHO) as “death of a woman while pregnant or within 42 days of termination of pregnancy, irrespective of the duration and the site of the pregnancy, from any cause related to or aggravated by the pregnancy or its management, but not from accidental or incidental causes. Maternal death is used for the evaluation of health services’ quality as well as the socioeconomic development of a population. WHO proposed the evaluation of maternal near-misses, meaning “a woman who nearly died but survived a complication that occurred during pregnancy, child-birth or within 42 days of termination of pregnancy”. Identification based on organ dysfunction criteria including clinical, laboratory and management-based. AIM OF THE WORK: The aim of this study was to prospectively assess Maternal Near Missat El-Shatby University Hospital from the first of January to the first of May 2023; To calculate the ratio of maternal ‘near miss’ and associated factors, as Assessment of MNM is an important part of the evaluation of maternity care provision. | ||||
