Abstract | ||||
The present research paper aimed at investigating the relationship between EFL fourth year English section pre-service teachers' oral performance and their conflict resolution skills. Besides, Figuring out the relationship between EFL pre-service teachers’ conflict resolution skills and their own perception about these skills. As to study how and in what directions oral performance influences the manipulation of conflict resolution skills representations and vice versa. The participants of the study were (60) fourth year English section pre-service teachers at the Faculty of Education, Fayoum University, Egypt, (N=60). The researcher followed the quasi-experimental design. The study participants’ oral performance was measured using an oral performance test, their conflict resolution skills were assessed using a conflict resolution situational test, and their own perceptions of these skills were identified using a conflict resolution scale; all prepared by the researcher. Results of the study showed a positive statistically significant correlation among the scores obtained from the oral performance test and the conflict resolution skills situational test, and a positive statistically significant correlation among the scores obtained from the oral performance test and the conflict resolution skills scale, as well, a positive statistically significant correlation between the scores obtained from the conflict resolution skills scale and the conflict resolution skills situational test. According to the reached findings, some recommendations for further research were suggested and some pedagogical implications which might assist EFL instructors during teaching oral performance and/or conflict resolution skills for EFL pre-service teachers were provided. | ||||
