Abstract | ||||
Abstract Modified forms of chitosan beads were prepared and used for removal of trivalent chromium (Cr III) from different pH aqueous media. Modified chitosan were characterized by using FTIR, X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). Adsorption experiments were carried out in a batch process and some experimental parameters (initial chromium ion (Cr III) concentration, contact time, pH and temperature) were optimized. The experimental results were fit well to the Langmuir isotherm and followed a pseudo-second order kinetic model. Thermodynamic parameters such as ΔH, ΔS and ΔG were calculated, indicating that the adsorption was spontaneous and endothermic nature. | ||||
