Abstract | ||||
The textural, mineral, and chemical composition as well as thermal behaviour of technological samples representing Um Bogma manganese ore in Um Bogma area were investigated using several lab techniques. The obtained results were used to assess their potentiality for upgrading and production of manganese alloys. Pyrolusite and, in a few cases, manganite are the essential manganese minerals. These are associated with varying proportions of hausmannite, hematite, goethite, and quartz. The chemical composition data confirm well with those of mineralogy. The ore samples display various textural patterns in which the essential Mn and Fe minerals have different modes of occurrence. Combining the various characteristics of the manganese ore samples indicate that some are amenable for upgrading and beneficiation. | ||||
