Abstract | ||||
Abstract Organizations are concerned with achieving improvement in their environmental performance by controlling the impacts of their activities, products and services on the environment. The International Standard ISO 14001 provides well the requirements of environmental management system elements to enable an organization to develop and implement a policy, objectives and processes considering legal requirements relating its significant environmental aspects. It can be applied to all types and sizes of organizations. The effectiveness and success of the system depends on commitment of all levels and functions of the organization, especially top management. The overall aim of this International Standard is to support environmental protection and prevention of pollution via establishing, implementing and improving management system and to assure interested parties that an appropriate environmental management system is in place. After offering the requirements of environmental management system elements, case study for chemical industry and labs will be discussed how to establish, implement and improve the effective system. | ||||
