| Abstract | ||||
| The present work was carried out aiming to prepare a cell line of dog kidney cell culture in order to propagate some canine viruses representing the most ones including rabies; canine distemper; canine parvo and canine adeno-1 viruses. The study included propagation of such viruses in both of baby hamster kidney (BHK); African green monkey kidney (Vero) cell lines and Madin Darby Canine Kidney (MDCK) cell lines. It was found that the prepared primary dog kidney reach a confluent level by the 7th day post culturing. On cell culture passage, a confluent sheet was obtained on the 4th day then on the 3rd day post culturing. Nearly a constant time of sub-culturing was obtained by the 2o passage. Propagation of the four mentioned viruses in the obtained dog kidney cell line resulted in higher virus titer than that obtained by BHK and Vero cells but similar to that produced by MDCK. So it could be suggested that the prepared dog kidney cell line is preferable for propagation of rabies; canine distemper and canine parvo and canine adeno-1 viruses and could replace the imported MDCK adding in production of high titer viruses for huge vaccine production. | ||||
