Abstract | ||||
This study aims to shed light on one of the phenomena that has spread recently, which is cyber bullying, and present ways to confront it, and it also aims to determine the extent of awareness of the library and information science student about cyber bullying and its forms, and their attitudes toward confronting it, if it occurs, through the nature of their work in the future, The study relied on the descriptive analytical approach and used an electronic questionnaire and personal interview as a tools for collecting data. The study sample consisted of(100) male and female students, and it produced a lot of results, the most notable of which are: The majority of male and female students (sample study) 74% of the total, had not been exposed to cyber bullying before, compared to 26% of the total had been exposed, There is a statistically significant negative relationship between the level of displaying personal data on the internet and exposure to cyber bullying at a significance level of 0.01, which indicates that the lower the level of privacy in displaying personal data on the internet, the greater the persons chances of being exposed to cyber bullying, and 94% of the total male and female students (sample study) found that one of the most common means through which cyber bullying occurs is social networking sites,and 84% of the total male and female (sample study) suggested increasing awareness of cyber bullying and its dangers, as a means of reducing it, and the study recommends holding seminars and workshops by libraries, information institutions and universities, to increase awareness of cyber bullying, and to prepare software applications support the Arabic language to confront cyber bullying. | ||||
