Abstract: Aim: This in vitro study evaluates the flexural strength of milled stainless steel 1.4404/316L alloy bars versus milled cobalt chromium alloy bars using a three-point bending machine.The research compares the mechanical properties of these two materials, which are commonly used in bar frameworks for overdentures, particularly for edentulous patients. Methods: Twenty bars , split equally between cobalt chromium alloy bars (n=10 ) and stainless steel 1.4404/316L alloy bars (n=10), were fabricated and tested in a simulated clinical setting. Flexural strength was assessed through a three-point bending test. Results: The cobalt chromium alloy bars exhibited significantly higher flexural strength (2419.71 ± 15.36 MPa) compared to stainless steel 1.4404/316L alloy (1017.29 ± 13.50 MPa), with a statistically significant difference (P < 0.0001). Conclusion: Within the limitations of this study the cobalt chromium alloy may provide a superior flexural strength compared to stainless steel 1.4404/316L alloy.
