Abstract | ||||
Background: patient have myocardial infarction need nursing guidelines after his stabilization to prevent recurrent admission with complication. Aim: To assess nurses’ performance in caring for patients with myocardial infarction. Research design: Descriptive research design was utilized to conduct this study. Setting: In intermediate care unit, men’s department and women’s department at El kharga Specialized Hospital in the New valley in the Egypt. Sample: A convenience sample of "50" nurses who are dealing with myocardial patients (30) in intermediate care unit, (10) work in men’s department and (10) work in women’s department. Tools: Two tools were used, tool (I): self-administration questionnaire sheet for nurses and tool (II):Observational checklist for nurses' practice related to care of patients with myocardial infarction. Results: The results of the current study documented that (72%) of nurses' knowledge of myocardial infarction patient were unacceptable. and (74%) of sample had inadequate practice regarding patients with myocardial infarction. there was positive statistical correlation between total knowledge scores and total practice score. Conclusion: The lack of nurse’s knowledge affects negatively on their practice regarding management for MI patients. Recommendations: Application educational program to improve nurse's knowledge and practice related to care of patient with myocardial infarction. | ||||
