| Abstract | ||||
| Background: Documentation and communication skills are considered a fundamental part in the healthcare setting especially in the nursing. The study aimed to evaluate nurses’ knowledge and practices regarding documentation of patient care and its relation to their communication skills. Research design: A Cross sectional research design. Setting: The study was conducted at Emergency Minia University Hospital. Sample: The study subjects were included all nurses with total number 178 nurses. Tools of data collection: Three tools were used, 1st tool was Nurses Documentation Knowledge Questionnaire, 2nd tool was Nurses Documentation Practices (Content Audit) Scale, and the 3rd tool was Communication Skills Scale. Results: Reveals that above fifty percent of the nurses have unsatisfied level regarding the total knowledge of documentation. Moreover, the majority of the participants have fair practice level on the day, and night shifts. Also, the nearly two-thirds of the nurses had a moderate level of total communication skills. Conclusion: there was positive association between nurse’s knowledge of documentation and their practices of documentation, and there was positive association between nurse’s practices of documentation and their communication skills. Recommendations: Provide in service training for nurses about the accurate documentation skills as well as well communication skills. | ||||
