Abstract | ||||
Poverty considers one of the critically serious social phenomena tightly related to development. There is a strong relationship between poorness and the general policy built by a state reflected in the economic, health, educational and environmental fields. Researchers in this study attempt to find out the correlation between psychological and social variables and the poor’s empowerment to participate in sustainable development programs. They use the descriptive-analytical method. The sample consists of (310) items of residents in El-Dewaika area. The study tools are a questionnaire form and tests of validity and reliability. Results indicate a correlation exists between psychological and social variables and the poor’s empowerment to participate in sustainable development programs at (0.01) significance level. The study recommends giving more concern to slums by providing social services and spread out awareness to enable them to participate in sustainable development. | ||||
