Abstract | ||||
Temazepam solid dispersions were prepared using the solvent and the fusion methods with certain hydrophilic carriers including polyethylene glycol 6000 (PEG 6000),Murj 52, polyvinyl pyrrolidone 10000 (PVP 10000), and polyvinyl pyrrolidone 40000 (PVP 40000). It was found that the solvent method is preferable than the fusion method. Thin layer chromatographic investigations revealed that three was no chemical degradation of the drug or the carriers through processing. Infrared analysis revealed that there was no evidence for complexation between temazepam and the investigated carriers nor decomposition of the drug. Differential scanning calorimetery (DSC) investigations illustrated that the drug present in the coprecipitates in the amorphous form in the fresh samples as well as the aged-ones. HPLC in the aged samples proved no drug degradation. | ||||
