Abstract | ||||
Others, otherness, difference, divergence, diversity are notions that puzzle the human being in general and that are also disruptive elements for the linguists, especially the terminologists and the translators. In fact, these notions refer to social and ethnic dimensions of terminology which are closely intertwined with the process of specialized translation. In order to explore this concept of the Other in terminology, we should analyze several notions such as the referent, the perception, and the universal nature of the concept, that are related to ethnoterminology. In this research, we will provide a terminological definition of the Other and we will link it to ethnoterminology and to translation. Moreover, we will study the terminology of the Other and illustrate it with examples from different specialized fields. Finally, we will make findings about terminological loyalty of translators. | ||||
