Abstract | ||||
This work investigated the morphological changes occurred through the first reach of the Nile River as a highly effective parameter on the navigation requirements. A map of changes between 2011 and 2014 was derived using ArcGIS. In addition, a morphodynamic study was investigated using 1-D unsteady hydraulic model and 1- D sediment model using HEC-RAS. Toffaleti transport sediment equation and Toffaleti fall velocity method were the most consistent with the natural conditions of the study area. Thereafter, it was possible to predict the final riverbed elevation for the study area at 2030. Finally, depending on the morphological changes detected using the combination between GIS along with HEC-RAS modelling, it was possible to evaluate the existing Nile River Navigation path. | ||||
