Abstract | ||||
The research aims to study the characteristics of imaginary characters in the novel The City of Caesars by the Chilean writer, Manuel Rojas and in the novel One Hundred Years of Solitude by the Colombian writer, Gabriel García Márquez, through applying the Principle of Paul Grice cooperation; specifically the quality maximum that opens the door to a broader literary analysis. Breaking the quality maximum aims to justify the characteristics of the characters that also live in totally imaginary cities. Going beyond logic serves the goal. In the investigation the acronym LCC is used to refer to the City of Caesars, and the acronym CAS to refer to One Hundred Years of Solitude. | ||||
