| Abstract | ||||
| Naturally, as language evolves over time, it becomes increasingly challenging for machine translation systems to generate accurate outputs, resulting in less satisfactory performance. Given that translation requires a profound understanding of the subject matter, a thorough knowledge of both cultures involved, an extensive vocabulary in both languages, and adept manipulation of language, it is clear that machine translation systems face significant challenges. The findings reveal the engines are unable to use such strategies to eliminate text ambiguity. They get confused between words meaning for different reasons such as a word conveying more than one meaning, several words that have the same meaning, and the change of a word’s meaning according to its context. They also get confused because of the differences between the structures of the English and Arabic languages. Such confusion led to the eruption of the problem of translation ambiguity as shown in the following examples. The study concludes that human intervention is essential for achieving translations free of ambiguity. | ||||
