| الملخص: إن هذا البحث يبين ما العلاقة بين الشرق والغرب من وجهة نظر استشراقية معاصرة، قام بها المستشرق الأمريكي "جون إسبوزيتو"، ومجيبًا عن تساؤلات عدة: ما ملامح علاقة المسلمين بالغرب؟. ماذا يشعر المواطنون المسلمون الغربيون تجاه هويتهم؟. ما العلاج الذي اقترحه "إسبوزيتو" لتخفيف حدة الشد والجذب في العلاقة بين الإسلام والغرب؟. لقد اشتملت هذه الدراسة على مبحثين، الأول يقدم تعريفًا "بجون إسبوزيتو" واسهامته العلمية في مجال الاستشراق. وجاء المبحث الثاني ليشرح العلاقة بين الشرق والغرب وبدايتها، مستنتجًا بعض العوامل التي تطرق لها "إسبوزيتو" في أبحاثه، ساهمت في رسم ملامح العلاقة بين الإسلام والغرب. وكيف أثرت هذه العلاقة حتى على المسلمين في أوطانهم الغربية كأمريكا مثلا، وجعلتهم يشعرون بالغربة بسبب النظرة الاستشراقية المتجذرة عبر المستشرقين الأوائل، التي رسمت الصورة النمطية السلبية عن الإسلام في أذهان الغربيين غير المسلمين؟! مختتمًا هذه الدراسة بالعلاج المقترح من وجهة نظر "إسبوزيتو" لهذه العلاقة. أما عن المنهج الذي استخدم الباحث فقد استخدم المنهج الوصفي التحليلي بشكل عام، والمنهج النقدي لبعض المباحث حسب الحاجة. وعن أبرز النتائج التي توصل لها الباحث كالآتي: إن العنصرية العرقية والدينية الغربية، أنتج صورة مشوهة عن الإسلام والمسلمين، ساهمت في غياب الشجاعة الأدبية والعلمية لدى عدد من العلماء الغربيين المتأخرين من الدراسة العادلة لإسهامات الإسلام في الفكر الغربي. الجهل بالدين الإسلامي، وخطاب الكراهية من كبار المؤثرين الغربيين عاملان مهمان في رسم ملامح العلاقة بين الإسلام والغرب. Abstract: This study, conducted by the American Orientalist John Esposito, explores the relationship between the East and the West from a contemporary Orientalist perspective. It answers several questions: What are the features of the relationship between Muslims and the West? How do Western Muslim citizens feel about their identity? What remedy did Esposito propose to alleviate the tension in the relationship between Islam and the West? This study includes two chapters. The first introduces John Esposito and his scholarly contributions to the field of Orientalism. The second chapter explains the relationship between the East and the West and its beginnings, deducing some of the factors Esposito addressed in his research that contributed to shaping the relationship between Islam and the West. How did this relationship affect Muslims even in their Western homelands, such as America, and make them feel alienated due to the entrenched Orientalist viewpoints of early Orientalists, which painted a negative stereotype about Islam in the minds of non-Muslim Westerners? Concluding this study with Esposito's proposed treatment for this relationship, the researcher utilized a descriptive and analytical approach in general, and a critical approach for some topics as needed. The most prominent findings reached by the researcher are as follows: Western racial and religious racism has produced a distorted image of Islam and Muslims, contributing to the lack of literary and scientific courage among a number of recent Western scholars to fairly study Islam's contributions to Western thought. Ignorance of the Islamic religion and hate speech from prominent Western influencers are two important factors shaping the relationship between Islam and the West. | ||
