| Abstract | ||
| The study aimed to evaluate the role of the sports economy in enhancing economic growth and diversifying national income sources in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, focusing on how to achieve these goals through sports investments and supportive government policies. The study also aimed to analyze appropriate mechanisms for attracting local and foreign investments, identify challenges facing the development of the sports sector, and propose practical solutions to overcome them. The study concluded that the sports economy is witnessing significant growth, with its contribution to GDP increasing from 45 billion riyals in 2019 to 82.5 billion riyals in 2024. Additionally, hosting major sports events has significantly contributed to increased tourism revenues and stimulated other sectors such as hospitality and transportation. Furthermore, investment in sports infrastructure has created new job opportunities, with approximately 39,000 jobs available in the sports sector by 2024. There is also a need for clear government policies to encourage investment in the sports sector and enhance the financial sustainability of sports projects. Moreover, the digital transformation in managing sports events has become essential for achieving efficiency and productivity. The study recommended the necessity of developing long-term strategies to maximize the benefits of major sports events while reducing associated costs. It also emphasized enhancing partnerships between the public and private sectors to develop sports infrastructure and achieve sustainable economic returns. Additionally, improving the experience of visitors and the local community to ensure sustainable benefits from sports investments was highlighted. Strengthening education and training to develop national competencies capable of supporting economic growth through the sports sector was another key recommendation. Finally, clear policies should be established to encourage investment in the sports field and ensure economic and social development aligned with Vision 2030. | ||
