Abstract | ||||
Pathological Narcissism Level and Its Relation to Inferiority Feelings and Self-Esteem among Umm Al-Qura University Students The current study aimed to identify the levels of pathological narcissism, self-esteem, and inferiority feelings among students at Umm Al-Qura University and to examin the interrelationships between these variables. The study sample consisted of (256) male and female students from different faculties, educational levels, and academic performance. To achieve the study goals; the researcher used three scales: pathological narcissism scale (Jodeh, 2012), Rosenberg self esteem scale for adults, and the Arabic translated version of inferiority feelings scale and she tested validities and reliabilities of these scales. The results showed that; there were low levels of pathological narcissism and inferiority feelings and high level of pathological narcissism and self-esteem. There were significant correlations between study variables. The correlation coefficient between pathological narcissism and self-esteem was negative (r = -0.32, p < 0.01), in the other hand, pathological narcissism and inferiority feelings was positive (r = 0.58, p < 0.01), and finally, self-esteem and inferiority feelings was negative (r = -0.63, p < 0.01). The results indicated that; males report being more pathological narcissistic and less inferiority feelings than females. Gender did not affect self-steem and variables of faculties, educational levels, and academic performance did not affect all the dependent variables. In light of the results the researcher presented some recommendations. | ||||
