Abstract | ||||
The research paper reviews one of the hospital design elements, the need for which has increased especially recently (the Covid-19 pandemic), which is isolation rooms for patients with airborne infectious diseases such as Corona, as many existing hospitals are not equipped with standard, and limiting the relevant standard codes to mentioning the requirements for isolation rooms for new buildings only, or existing hospitals that do not have a passive isolation room service to face cases of isolation of Corona patients, the research is divided into two main parts, The first part (the theoretical part) presents the design bases, local and international standards and codes for the design of negative isolation rooms, the technical requirements for the design and implementation of this type rooms, and the design considerations that must be taken into account during the design of negative isolation rooms. The second part deals with the (analytical part): the proposed checklist for the design elements of isolation rooms according to the data of the theoretical study. It also presents in this part an applied experiment to convert a part of an existing hospital building into negative isolation rooms for corona patients for 2 models., the first one King Abdullah Medical City in Makkah in Saudi Arabia, and the other in Al-Hada Military Hospital in Taif, as an application model through which a set of regular inpatient ward rooms were equipped with the requirements you need technical, to convert them into negative isolation rooms. | ||||
