| Abstract | ||||
| There is a link between infection control in hospitals and architectural design principles. Much literature has explored design criteria that can be assessed and measured, which relate to the necessary engineering and architectural aspects of infection control. The research problem is apparent through the lack of studies evaluating the significance of design standards related to or influencing infection control, despite the diversity and abundance of literature that offers a variety of opinions regarding the significance of these standards, hence, the failure to accurately determine the impact of these standards on combating infection. This hinders the ability to make appropriate design decisions. Furthermore, considering all standards to be of equal significance negatively affects the building’s performance, in addition to impeding determining the adequacy of hospitals' designs and infection combating measures. This research aims to deduce and measure the significance of architectural and engineering standards associated with hospitals and accordingly arrange them, thus determining design priorities and focusing on specific factors that relate to both generic and specialized hospital departments. This is performed according to the views of personnel using such buildings by relying on theoretical studies and questionnaires distributed to maintenance engineers and senior hospital officials. The results highlighted the importance of relying on experts’ views and have shown a general agreement that all the standards mentioned in the questionnaire are significant; The lowest standard achieved a relative significance of (75%), and the overall relative significance variation for all the standards did not exceed (7.70%). Furthermore, the results indicated that the highest attention should be paid to the quality of service provided, more than other standards, as it has a strong impact on all the other standards. This is followed by finishing materials, air conditioning, and sanitation systems. توجد ثمة صلة بين مكافحة انتقال العدوي وبين معايير التصميم الهندسي والمعماري لمباني المستشفيات، وقد قامت العديد من الدراسات بتحديد المعايير التصميمية القابلة للتقييم والقياس المرتبطة بالجانب الهندسي والمعماري واللازمة لمكافحة العدوي بالمستشفيات، وتظهر الاشكالية في عدم اهتمام الدراسات السابقة بقياس مدي أهمية كل معيار من المعايير التصميمية المؤثرة علي مكافحة العدوي رغم تنوعها واختلاف الاراء نحو درجة اهميتها وعدم ترتيبها من حيث الأهمية وعدم التحديد الدقيق لمدي تأثيرها علي مكافحة العدوي من وجه نظر المتعاملين مع المبني، ومن ثم عدم القدرة علي اتخاذ القرار التصميمي المناسب وفقا لأهمية البند والتعامل مع جميع الأعتبارات بصفة متساوية في الأهمية بصورة تؤثر سلبا علي تأدية المبني لوظيفته، وعدم التحديد لمدي مساهمة وكفاية المتطلبات التصميمية لمكافحة العدوي بالمستشفيات. ويهدف هذا البحث إلى التحديد والتصنيف الدقيق للمعايير التصميمية المعمارية والهندسية الاساسية مع قياس مدى أهميتها لمكافحة انتقال العدوي بالمستشفيات سواء العامة الواجب مراعاتها بكل الاقسام أو المرتبطة بالاقسام ذات الطبيعة الخاصة والواجب إضافتها لمكافحة العدوي داخلها، ثم ترتيب المعايير وتحديد أولويات التصميم وفقا لدرجة اهميتها من وجه نظر المتخصصين، وتم ذلك بالاعتماد على الدراسات النظرية ثم استبيانات الرأي للمتخصصين من مسئولي مكافحة العدوي ومهندسي الصيانة ومسئولي الادارات العليا بالمستشفيات، وأظهرت النتائج ضرورة الاعتماد علي هذه الأراء وترتيب المعايير وفقا لارائهم، والاتفاق العام علي أهمية جميع المتطلبات الواردة بالبحث حيث حقق أقل معيار تصميمي أهمية نسبية (70%) وكان المدي للاهمية النسية بين أكثر المعايير أهمية وأقلها بجميع الأسئلة لا يزيد عن (7,70%) كما ظهر أهمية الاهتمام بمعيار طبيعة الأقسام ونوعية الخدمة الطبية أكثر من أي معيار أخر لتأثيرها عليهم مع الاهتمام بأنظمة التكييف والصحي والتشطيبات | ||||
