Abstract | ||||
ABSTRACT A major class of applied stream cipher systems makes use of combining a number of Linear Feed Back Shift Registers (LFSR) to achieve reasonable cryptographic specifications. The Feed back with carry shift register (FCSR) is a new device to be used in the structure of stream ciphers in addition to or as a substitute for the LFSR. In this paper, we investigate the advantages and limitations of combining both LFSR and FCSR in one stream cipher design. A proposed novel design for a stream cipher architecture – using both LFSR and FCSR – will also be introduced and its cryptographic specifications will be evaluated. | ||||
