Abstract | ||||
If lying is in itself an immoral device and contrary to public values, how can lying and deception acquire political legitimacy? The philosophers have presented different answers to this question, and they advanced a very varied and rich contribution to this subject. Therefore, The research deals with the philosophical foundations of the legitimacy of political lying and deception, within their comprehensive framework and different dimensions, in view of the contributions of some of political and moral philosophers, from Plato and Aristotle, through Augustine, Fārābī, Machiavelli, Rousseau and Kant, to Alexandre Koyré, Leo Strauss, Hannah Arendt, and Jacques Derrida. | ||||
