Abstract | ||||
Statistics of the International Federation of Multiple Sclerosis (MS) indicate that the number of patients in the Gulf region reaches 11,350 people, approximately one patient and one patient, and the percentage of female infection is higher than the male by 1: 4. (Al-Jishi, 2012) Therefore, the research aims to identify the current situation of the residential environment for individuals with multiple sclerosis (MS) and also find solutions to create the appropriate environment for them and their families and those who care for them to reach recommendations to improve the quality of life for patients of this group and to educate their families, dealers and providers Sponsorship as well as for professionals in setting housing policies as equal partners in planning and interior design. By answering the main research question, how suitable is the current housing environment for MS patients and what is the relationship of the appropriate environment for patients with some variables (gender - age - marital status - monthly income - profession)? The research used the descriptive and analytical method, and the research tool was a survey questionnaire distributed electronically to individuals with the disease in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by e-mail. Significance level (0.01) between the educational status variable and the role of the family from the environmental point of view in providing a suitable home environment for MS patients, and there is no statistically significant correlation relationship at the significance level (0.05) between the variables (gender - age - marital status - Monthly income - profession) and the role of the family in terms of environment in providing a suitable home environment for patients with multiple sclerosis, and the researcher also found the scarcity of research related to this field, especially in the Arabic language. The researcher recommends conducting more research, studies and literature related to the housing environment appropriate for MS patients to clarify the housing needs currently and in the future to arrange the housing environment to make it suitable for their living and their activities and be in the Arabic language in particular and conduct more studies and longitudinal surveys to assess the social and environmental effects of MS patients. | ||||
